No, because the other kids might find it, or they might try to sell the card like Griffin did. Plus the other kids might want it for themselves.

I think you're right that the other kids would have wanted the card for themselves. How would the story have been different if Darren took the card that night?

We agree. The 6th graders might all get into a fight about who would get the baseball card. The card could have ripped if they all wanted it.
